Featured Build: Rocket Stove Heated Seating
Built from 45-gallon drums cut vertically, with airflow tunnels running beneath an earth-and-straw cob bench. Thermal storage bricks hold the heat, a Thermalite chimney vents it, and the burn is clean enough that all you’ll see is a tiny wisp of steam.
- 45-gallon drums, cut vertically
- Airflow tunnels beneath the seating
- Earth-and-straw cob construction
- Thermal storage bricks
- Thermalite chimney
- Clean burn — just a wisp of steam

Connected Idea: Thermal Lung
Heat is stored under the home and released slowly, with thermal mass positioned on the west, north and east sides to even out the day. The aim is passive comfort — warmth that arrives without a switch being flipped.
Farming Innovation Pins
Smaller experiments, in progress or already earning their keep:
- Wind pump
- Solar herb dryer
- Passive polytunnel heating
- Precision growing
- Wildlife-friendly crop protection
- Compost-heat experiments
- Low-energy irrigation

An Open Invitation
